The preschoolers have been hard at work during the month of January! We opened up the listening center where the children could listen to stories being read to them. This has been a pretty popular area! We also spent some time understanding the different parts of a book and the roles of the author and illustrator.

During Jesus time, we looked at a couple stories from the Bible. We first reviewed the Three Wiseman’s Visit to Baby Jesus, and then went into Simeon and Anna. The preschoolers learned about parables and how these stories show us how much God loves us. The parable of the prodigal son was examined.  The preschoolers are also working on learning the Pledge to the Cross. We have been practicing this daily following the Pledge of Allegiance.
A few new letter friends stopped by our classroom these past couple of weeks to meet the preschoolers. These included Mr. I – Impossible Inches, Mr. C – Colossal Cap, and Ms. E – Exercise Energy.
Seatwork time involved various activities. We worked on tracing, drawing lines to match shapes, the alphabet, as well as cutting and pasting.

We have been very creative during art time. We started out the month by making recycled snowmen and ice cream cones. The preschoolers used cars to paint the letter C. Then we moved on to working on our caterpillars to complete our Very Hungry Caterpillar story board. Please check out the board outside of the classroom! We also spent a day working with play dough.

We have been having fun with snack time as usual! We created caterpillars using grapes, strawberries and pretzels. Then we wrapped up the Very Hungry Caterpillar story by enjoying butterfly snacks in the morning, and frosted cookies with M&M’s in the afternoon.

Thanks again for allowing us to share the love of Jesus with your child!
