November, but where have you gone? This month has flown by! It seems like I just updated the blog and as I write this now, a 'few' weeks have passed! We have been busy, busy, busy in the preschool room.
We had a few letter friends visit us this past month. The first week we met Ms. S. She wears super socks and has a pet salamander named Sal. Ms. S wears her super socks when she feels sad or afraid. They help her feel better. The next letter friend that came by our classroom was Mr. R. He has rainbow ribbons and really likes farm animals. Mr. Z was our last letter friend we met this month. He did a great job zipping zippers.
In correlation with the animals our letter friends enjoy, we
also learned about different types of animals and where they might live. The
first week we shared our pet pictures. Ms. Angie even brought her dog Dolly.
She was so much fun to have in the classroom! The next week we explored the
different types of animals we might find on the farm. And the last week, the
preschoolers shared pictures from their own zoo trips.
During our first week in November, we heard the Bible story
on how Jesus fed 5,000 people with only five loaves of bread and two fish. Our
snack that day reenacted the story by praying to Jesus to provide us more ‘gold
fish’ for all our friends to share. From here and into the month of December,
our Bible focus begins to unfold the story of Christmas and Jesus’ birth. We
learned how Mary was visited by the Angel and then followed with Mary’s visit
to Elizabeth, who too was having a baby boy, John.
The preschoolers have been extremely busy during seat work
and art work times. We practiced writing our letters of the week, playing
matching games with our peer group, doing farm matching with cutting and gluing, and doing a lick and
stick project to create rainbows. Several animal hats were created during art
time, as well as some pretty amazing turkeys for our Turkey Wobble wall. The preschoolers even held an elephant parade throughout the entire daycare.
The preschoolers and peer group are working on saying the Pledge
of Allegiance and the Pledge to the Cross during class time. It is amazing how
quick they are picking up on the two pledges.
The Christmas program is almost here and we have been busy learning our songs! Be prepared to be amazed by the message from your children. Their love for Jesus will shine bright!
Our "I Am Thankful" celebration was a blast. We cooked popcorn and corn muffins for our snack, shared lots of smiles, and praised God for all the good He has done. We hope you had a blessed Thanksgiving and were able to share it with those you love. Thank you for sharing your child with us.
