Preschool - 10.20, 10.27

Busy, busy, busy....this has been the theme the past couple of weeks, but boy have we been having fun too! We welcomed new friends in the PM class and now have a total of 16 students in that class alone. The peer group has transitioned very well and the initial students have openly welcomed them into the class with very little hesitation. God is good!

We also met a few new letter friends these past two class sessions. During the week of October 20th, Ms. F stopped by and showed off her funny feet. She helped us learn that all people are different, yet we are still the same. Last week we met Mr. O. He does the opposite of what is said. When we say "yes", he says "no". However, he noted he would never do the opposite when the task is dangerous or unkind. Mr. O is also a letter light friend just like Ms. A was, whom we met earlier. Being a letter light friend means as a vowel they help connect other letters to form words.

Art work has centered around Fall and Halloween themes. We made black hairy bats and pumpkin patches using our knuckles as the painting tool. Many of the preschoolers thought it was pretty neat having their knuckles painted orange and then dipping their thumbs in green paint. Such a fun time to explore different things we can paint with and get a little messy during the process too! :)

During our seat work sessions, the preschoolers created an image of themselves on their "shoe" person. We spent some time making tasty "O's" by gluing Cheerios onto an Uppercase "O". This task also provided an extra treat time, as we snuck a few cheerios to help satisfy our taste buds.

Jesus time focused on two great stories. The first week we learned about Baby Moses and how he was saved by the grace of God. The next week we spent some time reading about Daniel and the Lion's Den. By putting our faith in God, we learned anything is possible.

As part of the month of October, we also discussed the importance of fire safety, the many different types of equipment and people that help us during emergencies, and we spent some time practicing calling "911". I will create a separate post showing our trip to the Fire Station.

As mentioned in previous posts, thank you for sharing your child with us. We love spending the few hours a week we can with them, watching them learn and grow in Christ!
