Preschool - 2.9, 2.11, 2.16, 2.18, 2.23, 3.1 & 3.3

Love In Action...Our theme, being seen daily in our classroom setting! Over the course of the school year so far, we have seen such a great transformation in each and every preschooler. We also have witnessed many amazing acts of co-learning and guidance of how to do things with the help of the peer group students. Ms. Angie and I have truly been blessed with a great group of students all around!

The month of February has been filled with many activities and lessons. We have welcomed a few new letter friends over this time.  These have included, Ms. Y, Mr. G and Ms. T. With her yodeling yawn, Ms. Y has shared with us the importance of rest. Mr. G loves gooey gum and taught us how to clean up trash and take care of our houses and neighborhoods. Finally, Ms. T stopped by and showed us her tall teeth and explained transportation systems and how we can walk and ride safely in our neighborhoods.

We spent some time learning about Ash Wednesday and the significance to what some of the colors that we see in church during Lent mean. Lent is the time we remember what all Jesus did for us and how he saved us from our sins. We next looked in the Bible story where Jesus picked his 12 disciples. Jesus also showed how he loves all people, including the little children as we read the passage on Jesus blesses the children. How amazing is His love where He does not rebuke us! This last class session we opened the first two of the resurrection eggs. Each egg holds a significant link to the Easter story as it unfolds. The first egg held a donkey inside. The donkey resembles the lesson learned from Matthew 21:1-9, as Jesus rode in on the donkey. The second egg held silver coins. The coins represented the story of Judas and how he was paid 30 pieces of silver to betray Jesus (Matthew 26:14-16).

During seat work time we practiced writing our "Y's", "G's", and "T's". We also have been working on tracing different types of lines. We are focusing hard on holding our writing tool correctly, as well as following the correct flow for writing each letter. The peer group students have also worked on their sounds and matching pictures to certain sounds.

Art work time has been busy as well! We started off this month getting our valentine bags ready for our "I Love You" party. The students worked hard on their fine motor skills by peeling off lots of stickers to decorate their bag. We also finished our pillowcases which detailed their personal drawing of them sleeping. After reading the Eric Carle book, A House For Hermit Crab, the students each made their own hermit crab. We also have been learning about different types of homes people live in. The students all created a special home they believed Mr. G would be most happy in. We also worked on linking colors and numbers on a color by number sheet. You'll see these latter two items during your parent teacher conference. The students learned about traffic signs and created their own traffic stoplight. They each recited what the colors means. Ask them as you approach a stoplight when you are traveling through town what each color means! This past class session we worked on our class projects for the Trinity Auction. Our project turned out super cute and we hope you get your chance to bid on them on March 19th!

As noted above, we have had a busy few weeks in our classroom. We had so much fun at our "I Love You" party, wearing our PJs, and also on the day we went on our neighborhood walk to look for transportation signs. Thank you to all you helped with the puffin orders. And THANK YOU for sharing your child with us!

A "FEW" pictures :) ... blessings to all!
