Preschool - 1.5, 1.7, 1.12, 1.14, 1.19 & 1.21

Welcome 2016!! It is hard to believe that our school year has reached the halfway mark. The saying holds true, time flies when you are having fun (and learning too)!

The new year began with brand new toys for the centers. The preschoolers and peer group sure have enjoyed them!

During Jesus Time, we reviewed the story of Jesus' birth and explored the three wise men's journey to meet the young King. We also studied the story of Simeon and Anna. Simeon praised God for his eyes have seen God's salvation, Jesus. We are currently learning how Jesus grew as a child and his time in the temple.

Our letter friends have made their way back into our classroom. Yay! We reviewed those we previously met through December and we also met two new friends in 2016, Mr. Q and Mr. C. Mr. Q's head is filled with questions that he wants to ask. If he asks his questions he will learn a lot. Mr. Q helped us explore dinosaurs from a long time ago. Mr. C covers himself completely with his colossal cap, as he is shy.

In art time, we created our baby Jesus in the manager scenes and decorated Happy Birthday Jesus crowns. The next week we made dinosaur masks and cut and glued dinosaurs coming out of their eggs. The past week we made colossal caps with the letter "C" and then made pancakes with homemade butter, shaken in class by the students themselves. YUMMY!!!

During seat work, we have been working on writing the letter "Q" and the letter "C". We are working hard on holding our writing device correctly. In addition to writing, we are focusing on using scissors in the correct manner. We worked with our scissors by cutting out a dinosaur match game, which was also fun to play. Each preschooler and peer group child used their imaginations on what their best snow fort would look like. You'll get a peek at these during conference time. We also worked on other snowman activities.

Getting back into the routine after a long break can sometimes be difficult, however these students sure handled it very smoothly and transitioned back without many concerns. What a great group to work with! Thank you for sharing them with us :)

Enjoy the photos of the past few weeks...
