Back to the blog. A little bit behind on the update, but better late than never, right??!! :)
We rounded out the month of February with a very special
visitor. Mrs. Ostransky (Madison's Mom) was kind enough to stop by our classroom to inform the
preschoolers the importance of taking care of their teeth. She reviewed how we
should brush and floss, as well as what different types of food do to our
teeth. Mrs. Ostransky also sent each child home with a brand new toothbrush and
flosser. Thanks so much for taking the time out of your day to share with the
kids. They loved hearing what you had to share!

March came in like a lion and we all prayed it would go out
like a lamb. The first week in March we celebrated National Lutheran School’s
Week. On Tuesday, the preschoolers were allowed to wear their pajamas to
school. What a fun day! We even played a few games of musical chairs. On
Thursday, the theme was to wear your red shirt and silly socks. This day
also included a special visit from Chef Combo who worked with us on making
homemade pizzas. This food choice took the majority vote from the kids!

We looked at several stories during Jesus time. We discussed
Lent and how this time provides us the opportunity of remembering and
reflection. The 7th Grade Class from Trinity East lead chapel for
TECC with a baseball puppet show explaining the importance of working together.
We also reviewed the Good Samaritan story from the Bible and why we should help
each other. The last week we reviewed Jesus’ first miracle where he turned
water into wine at the wedding in Cana. The preschoolers have done a fantastic
job learning the pledge to the cross to date.
We continued to meet a few additional letter friends this
past month. These included Ms. V – Vegetable Vest and Ms. U – Unusual Umbrella.
Seatwork time was spent working on several different
activities. We worked on writing our names and letters in shaving cream, traced
zigzag lines and curved lines, used scissors to cut straight lines, played
bingo and used dotters to form the letter V.
Art time was also a busy time this month. We started out the
month by making our Cat in the Hat characters to help celebrate Dr. Seuss’
birthday. For St. Patrick’s Day we created our own little leprechauns. We
created the projects from each class for the School Auction. Pots were colored
so they were ready for our grass seed plantings. We also made mosaic eggs for
Easter.
Snack time during the month of March was a little different
from the rest of the school year. During this month, we did Mystery Snack all
month. Each time the students were given clues on what type of snack it was for
them to make guesses. Each snack was one that we have already had to date. We
do have some smart cookies in our preschool classes!
Science time brought on some exciting topics to explore.
Three highlighted areas we reviewed included making homemade flubber, planting
our grass seed in decorated pots, and researching volcanoes!
We also took our very first field trip which included a ride
on the bus. What a big deal this was! We visited the Lutheran Family Services
Office in Fremont and brought them the chapel money we collected during the
month.
It is truly a blessing to share the love of Jesus with your
child each week! Thanks for allowing us to work with them.
