Preschool - 4.5, 4.7, 4.12, 4.14, 4.19, 4.21, 4.26, & 4.28

April Showers Bring May Flowers…we sure have had a lot of rain, so we are hoping to see all these May flowers soon, real soon! If you ordered plants from the Trinity Plant Sale, just a quick reminder to pick-up your orders this Friday/Saturday at Christensen Field.

Boy oh boy, April sure has kept us busy, busy bees in the preschool classroom. We have explored so many areas, focusing on seeds and plants, light and dark, water activities and many instruments that make noise. It has been an exciting month to say the least!

We had the pleasure of meeting four new letter friends. Ms. V showed off her vegetable vest with a variety of vegetables covering it. Ms. L has the longest laugh. She also shared with us light versus dark contrasts. Ms. U has an unusual umbrella and loves to fly up, up, up. She also loves rain and water. Finally, Ms. J came in with her jingle jacket! Whenever she moves her jacket jingles and then when she stops so does the sound.

During Jesus time, we looked at the story of how Jesus calmed the storm, as well as how He appeared to His disciples. We also worked on saying and singing the Lord’s Prayer. For the last week in April, we talked about Peter and the cripple man and learned if we have faith in God, miracles can happen.

For artwork time, we started off the month of April by giving our grass heads haircuts. We saw several good barbers, who all took the oath to never ever take scissors to their own hair or anyone else’s! Other activities included painting with potatoes shaped in the letter “V”, shadow tracing, painting “L’s” while seeing how light/dark work together, raindrop painting and making kazoos!

The students have been very busy during seatwork time too. We continued to work on writing our letters of the week on the practice sheets with highlighters. The students also worked hard on many cutting activities, as well as sequencing different stories and matching objects. We hope the “jelly” bags made it home safely. We sure had a good time tracing our “J’s” and various shapes with them at school!

The month of April also included so many other activities. We found a great day to take our walk to look for signs of spring! We planted bean and carrot seeds in a clear view planter where we could watch the seedlings sprout. They have really taken off these past few weeks too. During water week, the students helped make homemade playdough. We also did an experiment to see what happens when we put oil in a bowl of water, and of course we watched ice melt into water!

We are off to May, looking for flowers and trying to figure out where this year has gone. The students have shown so much growth, not just academically but socially, since they first walked into our classroom. It is a pleasure to work with each of them weekly!

ENJOY THE PHOTOS J
