Ms. Angie's Preschool Classes

Wow, another two weeks have flown by! It’s hard to believe we are nearing the end of October. The preschoolers have been very, very busy in the classroom. It’s amazing to see how much they have learned in a short two month’s time. We love hearing the kids singing songs we have been taught while they are working hard during center time. I don’t think they know we are listening to them, but what a great way to bring a smile to your face!

These past two weeks we have focused on the Letter K. Our new letter friend Ms. K was welcomed to our classroom. Ms. K loves to kick the soccer ball, while saying KABOOM! She, however, is most proud to be kind. Ms. K has helped us understand the importance of kindness and being nice to our friends. One day, Ms. K even brought in one of her special soccer balls so each preschooler could try to kick the ball into a bucket. We have some very talented kids in our classes!

This past week during Jesus time, the importance of friendship was showed as we discussed the story of David and Jonathon. Jonathon showed David how intense his friendship was by saving David’s life. The prior week, we learned about Samuel and how strong his love for serving the Lord was. The kids have also enjoyed chapel time both in our classroom, as well as in the Daycare Media Room. Thank you to all who have sent back offering money. Our offerings to purchase Bible sticks for the soldiers are really adding up. What a great way to share the love of Jesus with those protecting us.

During the month of October, we stress the importance of fire safety. On October 8^th, we practiced a fire drill during school time so all are aware of what steps need to occur if the building alarms ever sounded. Several new centers were brought out on October 10^th that focused on fire safety activities. For instance, the preschoolers can dress up as fire fighters and ride in our very own fire truck! During art time, we made up our own fire hats and went through our Fire Safety Books. We learned the importance of staying away from hot “tools” used by parents (i.e. matches, lighters, stoves, grills, irons, etc.), which toys are safe to play with, and to STOP, DROP, and ROLL if we are ever on fire. We hope you had a chance to run through the book with your child at home to help reiterate the importance of fire safety, as well as practiced your own fire drill at home.

We have been learning a few new songs these past few weeks. These include the ants go marching, fire truck, five hairy bats, and five little pumpkins sitting on a gate. Snack time has also been going great! The preschoolers have enjoyed eating ants on a log, listening to the rice krispies talk to them, finding the letters in their names with alphabet cereal, and making kabobs! Seat work time is going smoothly. The preschoolers are starting to recognize their names on paper and really doing well following instructions.
